"As president of the indian menopause Society, i am proud to share that we attended the international conference with a strong group of over 40 gynecologists from India. Each of us was actively involved as faculty, presenting papers, posters and delivering oral presentations. Our extensive preparations over the past year truly paid off and it was immensely rewarding to see our efforts come to fruition. It was heartening to present at the IMS's CAMS one-and-half-hour session, ' Contemporary Practices for midlife management: Indian Perspective.' We shared insights on menopause management through sails of spirituality, Mind-Body-Soul Connection and COVID's impact on menopausal health. The audience's appreciation was truly rewarding, marking a proud moment for us on the International Stage."

It gives me great pleasure to introduce Dr Laxmi Shrikhande for Fellowship ad eundem . She is an obstetrician and gynaecologist par excellence. Her journey so far has been that of determination.
Born into an economically challenged and orthodox family where educating girls beyond basic education was unheard of, she managed to get into MBBS through pure merit because she had achieved a gold medal in her 10th class. Her teachers insisted that she should get further education as she was extremely capable. They, and she herself persuaded her father to let her study medicine. Dr Laxmi Shrikhande faced immense challenges in pursuing her passion for education. So much so that she would do full house-work along with studying MBBS. Despite the societal and familial pressures, she nurtured a keen interest in learning and was determined to break through the barriers that restricted her.
Her unwavering commitment to serving women in her country, India, led her to specialize in obstetrics and gynecology (OB/GY) for her postgraduate qualification. She passed MD (OB/GY) in 1990 from Government Medical College Nagpur. After that she worked at Breach Candy hospital, Mumbai and as lecturer at Cama & Albless hospital-a unit of Grant Medical College Mumbai. Currently, she is Medical Director and Senior Consultant at Shrikhande Hospital & research centre pvt Ltd, her own set up.
To ensure she remained at the forefront of her field, Dr. Shrikhande continuously sought to update her knowledge and skills. Her dedication was recognized through four prestigious fellowships:

Dr. Shrikhande is deeply committed to academics and has delivered 22 orations and 450 guest lectures. She has 42 national and 21 international publications to her credit.
Dr Shrikhande strongly believes in giving back to society, she has educated 200,000 boys and girls on adolescent health issues, such as anaemia, sexual health and menstrual hygiene. She has also conducted awareness camps for more than 10,000 women on osteoporosis and cancer prevention. She is regularly invited by various National Government Organisations, such as Rotary club, Inner Wheel, Jaycees, Lions, and women's organizations, to educate society on various health issues affecting women and girls. She has conducted Training of teachers for menstrual hygiene in schools covering a large area in middle India.
Dr. Laxmi Shrikhande’s journey is a powerful example of resilience and perseverance. Her achievements not only highlight her personal strength but also serve as an inspiration to many, demonstrating that with determination and hard work, it is possible to overcome even the most daunting obstacles.
Dr. Shrikhande has been strongly supported by her husband, Dr. Anil Shrikhande, who has accompanied her today. He is a urologist by profession, who has been a pillar of strength and encouragement in her journey. He was her senior in Medical College. She told me how they met in a train station when he was incidentally travelling on the same train as her and her father. Father had a medical emergency, and she was desperately looking for help and lo and behold we have Dr Anil come to the rescue and the rest is history. She is very proud of her two sons, both doctors. Bhushan and Aditya- one pursuing fellowship and other residency in America.
Congratulations Lakshmi and Hepsiba
